Real Christmas Tree

Whether to have a real or fake Christmas tree is a very controversial topic. On one hand fake christmas trees are easier to take care of. Not having to worry about watering a christmas tree every day, or cleaning up the needles that fall is definitely a plus. On the other hand there is nothing better than the smell of a christmas tree in the house and the way a real christmas tree looks compared to a fake one. No matter what kind of fake christmas tree, none will look completely real. In a survey sent out by email to the students of St. Joe was close but Real Christmas trees took the lead. With 118 responses 44.1% preferred a fake tree and 55.9% preferred real trees.

Freshman Caroline Sims voiced her opinion on real or fake trees

“I just think they get me more into the Christmas spirit with the smell and going to pick it out,” Caroline said.

The act of picking out a Christmas tree does get people into the Christmas spirit. It is a lot of fun picking out the christmas tree even cutting it down for some people. Walking down the rows of trees and deciding what one would look the best is very nostalgic. Real christmas trees are also better for the environment. There is lots of carbon emission required to make a Fake tree. This makes the real tree more eco friendly.

Freshman Shelby Winston also voiced her opinion on the topic.

“I like them because they can be multi colored,” Shelby said.

This is definitely a pro having a fake Christmas tree. It can be any color and any size you want. They are also a lot less work and can be used again and again. This could save a lot of money. Another reason could be when traveling for holidays they are also good because they don’t need water. You don’t ever have to worry about making sure the tree is watered. One other benefit is also that they are much less messy. There are no pine needles littering your floor.

There are pros and cons to both but everyone has an opinion on what works in their homes.
