Celebrating an Evening with the Angels virtually

An Evening with the Angels in February of 2020.

An Evening with the Angels, better referred to as the Annual St. Joe Auction, is one of the largest events of the year, celebrated by the entire SJA community. Many luxurious and gold-star items are up for bid at the auction, such as vacation getaways, concert tickets, and the most popular prize, the honorable and adorable auction puppy.

This year, the Auction will be a virtual production held on February 27, live-streamed from the SJA Theater. The fragments of the auction will include a silent auction, a live-action, raffles, and donations for the Fund-A-Need program, which provides financial aid to students. All live auction bidding and Fund-A-Need donations will take place through a mobile bidding platform instead of the traditional paddle raises.

Sophomore Ella Katsikas, who loves the St. Joe excitement as the Auction grows nearer, is interested in this virtual auction style.

“It is a new experience that has never been done before, and it is exciting that we are current students at SJA during the first Virtual Auction,” Ella said.

Several items to look out for in the Live Auction include a custom golf cart; a week’s vacation in a home in Panama City Beach, Florida, which houses 12-14 people; and a VIP experience at the Luke Combs concert in November 2021, including a meet-and-greet with Luke Combs.

Sophomore Maddie Stecher cannot wait to see what prizes are up for grabs this year.

“Seeing all the auction has to offer excites me so much for this year’s auction! I have seen the Auction board’s hard work through the pandemic, and I know it will pay off in the end,” Maddie said.

Julie Meersman, who is the Auction Manager, has worked extremely hard to make this event possible this year.

“I can’t wait to see how the show comes together once all the pieces are in place. It should be a fun night for everyone,” Mrs. Meersman said.

Although the event won’t be in-person, everyone will still be together in spirit and in support of SJA. The Auction this year is surely an event to mark on the calendar with amazing opportunities for prizes and entertainment.
