This month’s student-athlete spotlight is senior, Lucy Schuman. For anyone who does not know Lucy, she is a fun-loving and easy-going personality at St. Joe, and she is always enjoyable to be around. She is addicted to coffee, and she has a twin sister, Libby, who also goes to St. Joe.

“Lucy has always been an amazing athlete since she was little,” Libby said.

Lucy is a valuable asset to St. Joe’s cross country team. Although being a natural athlete her whole life, she started running her junior year, making the 2020 season only her second year on the team. 

“I love being able to run with girls from all different grades, and I love being able to see how much everyone is improving already,” Lucy said.

Her goals for this season are to be able to continue to participate in races and to encourage all her teammates to always finish the race. Her advice to anyone who wants to try out for cross country, or any team for that matter, is to just try it out. At least give it a week, and see how it goes. Also, time management/balancing school and sports is key to success. The St. Joe community cannot wait to see Lucy excel this year.
