A prominent question that is brought up by many fans of the well-known book and TV series “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” which has just recently released its final installment. The plot follows a girl by the name of Isabel “Belly” Conklin embarking on a journey full of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. During the summer, she and her family stay at a beach house with family friends The Fishers. For Belly’s whole life, she has always had a place in her heart for one Fisher brother: Conrad Fisher, but things quickly change.

What seemed to be an obvious choice turns into one large, dramatic love triangle with Belly having to decide between two brothers– who is deserving of her heart? All of it delves back into one controversial debate involving all fans of the show and book series: Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah.

But first, what makes Conrad or Jeremiah the perfect candidate for Belly? Both characters have positive attributes, but who outshines the other?

Although Conrad seems to be taken as a dark and mysterious character, he has a big heart, shown through flashbacks in both the books and the show. The flashbacks help develop the loyal and considerate personality of Conrad, proving he was always looking out for Belly even before “the summer she turned pretty.” Conrad does have a rough time expressing his true feelings towards Belly, which—in his own words— “physically hurts” for him to hide. He also has a habit of shutting people out because of the grief weighing down on him from losing his mother to cancer. Could that affect the fans’ overall opinions?

Regardless of Jeremiah being Belly’s second choice, he stepped up to the plate. Jeremiah can be regarded as a slightly competitive person, yet his motivation to earn Belly’s heart could also be considered admirable to some. His ambitious and charismatic personality could very well cast people under a spell and entice them towards his side, but is that spell strong enough to win over the fans?

Team Conrad has officially won the vote from the majority of the student body at St. Joseph’s Academy, with 66% of the vote from fans in the St. Joe community. A recent survey favored the oldest Fisher brother, Conrad, with most of his popularity stemming from the TV series on Prime Video. More people seemed attracted to the brooding and quiet demeanor of Conrad over the playful and extroverted personality of Jeremiah.

At last, the debate has been settled at St. Joseph’s Academy. Team Conrad has taken the cake, but not the $750 two-tiered, mirror-glazed chocolate cake with 70% cacao.
