On February 10, the St. Joe dance team had one of its last competitions.  The team performed at halftime at the Desmet vs CBC basketball game.  The game was held at the Palace on Ballas in Desmet’s gym.  The game was packed as it was a big MCC rivalry game.  The Angels performed their Drake remix Hip Hop routine. This dance included cartwheels, synchronized dances, and solos.  In the beginning, there was a slight technical difficulty, but that did not stop the Angels.

Senior Sophie Middendorf is a member of the Varsity Dance team and has been since freshman year.

“I was so excited and nervous to perform our dance in front of DeSmet and CBC.  I thought we did amazing especially since we couldn’t even hear the music because it stopped working. I think we handled it well and the dance was a big hit,” Sophie said.

The dance team had two more performances after this, state and one other competition.

Senior Sophie Mains has been dancing for as long as she remembers.

“My favorite part is when we do all the moves together in sync,” Sophie said of being on the dance team.

A week after this performance, they competed at state.  Although the competition was tough, the Angels were the Missouri State Class 3 champions. Not only did they win state, but also won the highest grade point average as a team.  The team averaged a gpa of 3.89.  Needless to say, the Angels came to win this year and came out victorious.
