On Friday January 25, the JV and Varsity basketball teams headed to Chicago to compete against two Chicago high schools: Bloom High School and Marian Catholic High School.

Varsity and JV both played two games this weekend and won both. Varsity and JV played their first games on Saturday afternoon against Bloom High School. Varsity won 37-33 with senior Annie Lally as the top scorer with 18 points. JV also won 26-17. After the games, the girls and coaches were able to explore the city of Chicago.

“My favorite part of the trip was going to the Sugar Factory restaurant after the game,” Sophomore Ella Kertz, varsity manager, said. “ It was so fun to just bond with the team and explore Chicago.”

The following day, the Angels played their last games in Chicago against Marian Catholic High School. Varsity won against the team 41-39, with Annie Lally leading the team again with 19 points. JV continued the winning streak with a score of 36-23.

“I was so proud of JV when we won both games,” sophomore player Hannah Steffens said.  “It really was just so fun knowing we were coming back with two wins.”

After a long weekend filled with hard work, the basketball teams returned home on Sunday night with a total of four wins for St. Joe. The St. Joe basketball team will continue playing this season with the same hardwork and determination they had in Chicago and bring home so more wins!
