Recently, our very own assistant principal Ms. Karen Davis received an amazing honor. She was inducted into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame for her outstanding achievement in volleyball.

“I was very honored and surprised,” Ms. Davis reflected.

Ms. Davis began her volleyball career as a freshman in high school. Davis shares that she has loved volleyball ever since and she loves to compete. She thinks one of the most important components of volleyball is the team. Volleyball is a team sport; it must be played together. A single person can not win it for the entire team.

“No one can hide, and you must rely on every player,” Davis said.

She played the game throughout high school, and coached at St. Joseph’s Academy for 21 seasons, and won eight state championships..

“Coaching at St. Joe was an incredible experience,” Davis said. “(But) it was time to hand over the reins to my former player and assistant coach Katie Kieffer Richardson who is doing a great job.”

The St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame is home to many famous celebrities, including Stan Musial, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Jack Buck, Yogi Berra. Now, Ms. Davis is one of these honored legends.

The ceremony this year for the St. Louis Hall of Fame was held at the Hilton in Frontenac. Ms. Davis’ friends, family, and even former players attended with her to celebrate this huge accomplishment.
