Teachers receive emergency training

SJA faculty and staff were working hard while students were still celebrating summer.

Mr. Bud Stein practices his fire extinguisher skills at the faculty in-service day on Aug. 10.

Faculty and Staff reported to St. Joseph’s Academy the week before students to attend conferences and receive specialized training.

The three-day agenda included the opportunity to reconnect with coworkers, discuss the new schedule and participate in conversations about diversity and social media use.

Many teachers also used the time to set goals for the new school year.

Mrs. Colleen Smith-Yelton led the staff in CPR and emergency response training.  The Frontenac Fire Department even brought fire extinguishers to allow hands-on experience with using fire extingishers to put out a fire.

When students arrived the next week for orientation, faculty and staff were well-prepared to handle any issues that could arise, including being prepared in case of emergencies.
