As fall quickly approaches, the Cardinals prepare for the end of the season and push to make it into the playoffs.  The Cardinals have struggled to stay above .500 this year, however there is still faith they will make it to postseason.

Junior Sara Isaacson comments, “I’ve been to a bunch of games this summer, and I love the ballpark!  I just hope the Cardinals can pull through to the playoffs!”

Several players have risen to the occasion and led the team this season.  Specifically, catcher Yadier Molina has played a key role offensively and defensively.  He is a great leader in the clubhouse and helps younger pitchers and player to succeed.

Another veteran Cardinal pitcher Adam Wainwright is not only a key starter but also a great character in the clubhouse.  Several other younger player have stepped up this year, including, Matt Carpenter, Jed Gyorko and Dexter Folwer.

The Cardinals considered trading starting pitcher Lance Lynn.  But at the trade deadline, they ultimately decided to make no trades.  Several fans are also questioning the manager Mike Matheny.  Although Matheny is young and relatable to the players, he struggles to make the hard decisions.  However, Cardinal Nation will have to wait until the end of the season to see how the owners and general manager act.

The Cardinals are hoping to finish first in the division over the Cubs and land a spot in the playoffs.

Emma Heienickle comments, “Not making the playoffs last year was terrible, and I’m counting on the team to make it this year!  I love October baseball!”
