Where The Snow Falls Perfectly: Popular Skiing Destinations
Emma Cucchi, Senior Staff Writer
Prime skiing destinations are located across the world, from the U.S. to Japan. As of 2025, some of the best slopes could be a three hour flight or over an eighteen hour flight to ski on some of the best snow. According to a recent poll from peakrankings, these destinations feature diverse, high altitude terrain for all ski levels, whether you're a beginner or an experienced skier. The reason they are so popular is because of their reliability and "champagne powder”-like snow, as well as the beautiful high end ski-in/ski-out lodging resorts and the experience of being in the mountains. If you prefer spending time in the cozy lodge or like a challenge, these popular destinations accommodate everyone.
Skiing holds a special place in my heart because it is something my family has done every year becoming a shared tradition. In the past few years we've tried various new places, from Keystone Mountain, Colorado to Beavercreek Mountain, Colorado and Park City, Utah. We love exploring new mountains, appreciating their snow, and enjoying the beautiful resorts. Together, we create repeat memories and the combination of adventure and quality family time makes skiing something my family looks forward to every year.
As new places rise to popularity, many skiers at St. Joseph’s Academy have travelled to experience these places for themselves. Nora Silker, an SJA freshman who has gone skiing at Copper Mountain, Colorado many times, shares her opinion on the location.
“I like skiing Copper Mountain with my family because there are so many different levels of trails so everyone is able to participate! I would say that Copper is a popular skiing destination because of the good runs, many different food options, and a great environment,” said Nora
Another freshman, Maeve Rose, talks about Breckenridge Mountain and her experience.
“Breckenridge Mountain is beautiful and offers a great experience for all. I really enjoyed visiting there with my family and I recommend it because of its majestic snow and accommodating lodging,” said Maeve
My personal favorite skiing destination is Beaver Creek Mountain in Colorado. This specific place stands out to me because of its great mixed terrain from beginner-friendly slopes to advanced impeccable groomed runs. A fun fact is that the Birds of Prey course is so advanced that it is used in World Cup races. But, more importantly I love it here because of the luxury feeling on the mountain, from its heated sidewalks and high end service that feels like so much more than just skiing. Furthermore, it has one of the best family-friendly atmospheres and caring staff that makes the trip feel welcoming, relaxing, and enjoyable. As a result, these contributions make it feel like home and are just a few of the reasons why Beaver Creek is ranked 12 overall in the U.S according to PeakRankings.
There are many popular skiing destinations, and it ultimately depends on your opinion and what you're looking for. However, in the end, they provide more than just snowy slopes: these skiing destinations offer adventure, scenery, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences with family.
Therefore, exploring new skiing destinations with my family and friends offers lasting memories that go beyond the slopes. They create meaningful interactions through learning and improving a challenging sport. Overall, ski trips always lead to an unforgettable experience, and it is something that many look forward to every year because nobody comes back unhappy from a ski trip.
