During homeroom on Mon., Aug. 28, The Voice debuted to the SJA school community the new online news site.

The staff has worked hard to learn the web-based program that hosts the site as well as meeting over the summer to plan, write and assign photos for the website to be ready.

The editors are: Senior Renee Yoon, SeniorLarissa O’Shea, Senior Erin Schuler, Junior Madison Guzy, Senior Annie Harter, Senior Emma Heienickle, Senior Katie Powers, Junior Sarah Gruensfelder, Junior Sara Kirsch, Junior Kara Pruett, Sophomore Allison Leahy and Senior Olivia Neidenbach.

Yoon, editor in chief, spent some time over the summer at American University to take a journalism class.  The course introduced her to high school and college students  from all over the world.  The course prepared her even more for The Voice than she already was.

“I’m excited to share with everyone all of the wonderful things The Voice has planned for this year,” she said.

She shared that besides the online news site The Voice staff will be producing a quarterly newsmagazine with in-depth features.

“Our print version will be a modern piece with lots of color that will go deeper into the issues that affect St Joe,” Yoon added.

The Voice has been the student-run newspaper for St Joseph’s Academy since 1983.  The new moderator is English teacher Mrs. Amy Summers.
