The St. Joseph’s Academy Golf Team has been on top of their game this 2018 season. In particular, varsity golf player and a junior Grace Aromando has had an impressive 2018 season and won the medalist title at the recent Angel Classic at Quail Creek Golf Club, shooting an impressive two-under-par 70. Grace and the other varsity players, Lauren Gallagher, Drew Nienhaus, Nicole Rallo, Mia Rallo, and Izzy Arro, all shot less than eighty and won the Angel Classic for the second consecutive year.
These Angels are on the road to state with high hopes to bring home the third consecutive title, a three-peat for St. Joseph’s Academy gold. For Grace, her favorite part about the St. Joseph’s Academy Golf team is “how close [the] team is and how [her] team is like a second family.”
Aromando may make her golf game look easy, but in order to win and constantly improve her game she spends around five hours practicing on the weekends, has daily practice after school with her teammates, aims for twenty-seven holes of golf a week, competes in tournaments and matches for St. Joe, and balances all other aspects of her life on top of that.
In the future after her high school career comes to an end, Aromando “want[s] to play college golf and [is] currently receiving offers and looking for her perfect place.”
As for the Junior Varsity Golf team, a great season is winding down. Olivia Sullivan, Molly Rose Schene, Emma Mueller, Parker Lewallen, Shipley Wagamon, Annie Marquitz, Ellie Davenport, and Addison Kozeny improved their individual game this season and brought home two first-place titles in eighteen hole tournaments as well as other match wins.
