St. Joseph’s Academy High School in St. Louis Missouri hosted the play Our Town on Thursday, February 15, and Saturday, February 17.

Sophomore Olivia Sullivan played the character of Mrs. Soames and said each cast member had to work hard by putting in time to memorize their lines.

“Rehearsals were every other day, so about four days a week. We rehearsed from 3-5 PM and on tech week (costume rehearsals) we rehearsed from 3-6:30 PM every night,” Olivia said.

Mr. John Vullo, director and theater teacher at St. Joseph’s Academy, picked this unique play to be performed as the last play at St. Joseph’s academy this year.

“I picked this play because it is revolutionary and a different play. People really interact with the audience, which has never been done before here at the school. This is also a simple play about daily life and what happens,” Mr. Vullo said.

Many students came to watch and support their classmates, including senior Annie Weiss. Annie went to the opening show on Thursday.

“I think the play turned out very well! The actors did a good   job acting everything out and I liked the plot of the play!” Annie said.
